Sarah and Matthew’s wedding at beautiful Stoke by Nayland in Suffolk

Although the weather tried it’s hardest, no amount of rain could dampen the spirits of Sarah and Matthew at their July wedding in the beautiful Suffolk village of Stoke by Nayland. The torrential rain had been forecast all week and Sarah and her parents were well prepared for the worst at the marquee reception in the gardens of the family home.

I began the day at the church and was surprised by the stunning interior of this local Suffolk village church, beautifully decorated with summer flowers in pastel blues and pinks. The guests arrived under a colourful assortment of umbrellas and the very charming Matthew and his ushers greeted them in the porch.

Sarah arrived  in good time for the ceremony but I love this image of her lovely father once more checking the time as they entered.

As Sarah and Matthew left in their classic car for the short ride to the house, many of the guests walked through the very pretty village, dodging the puddles on the way.

Once back at the house, the guests enjoyed their champagne and canapés in the warmth of the enormous marquee, prettily decorated with masses of bunting strung across the span of the roof and more beautiful English country flowers in pastel colours.

With no let up in sight of the persistent rain, Sarah and Matthew bravely ducked outside the marquee for just a few moments so I could capture some pictures of just the two of them. Even on a day like this, it was clear what a beautiful garden it was and a flowering arbour provided both a lovely background and a little shelter!

As the sky darkened outside the marquee, inside….. great speeches all round started the evening celebrations. After the meal, Sarah and Matthew took time to stroll around all the tables, catching up with old friends before stepping out onto the enormous dance floor for what was one of the best First Dances I have seen!

Some very energetic Scottish dancing followed which was greeted with great enthusiasm by all the guests and particularly by the Scottish contingent.

The marquee looked stunning as I left, lit up against the dark sky ….. and at last, the rain had stopped. If you were a guest at this lovely wedding, please register here to see all the pictures of the day:  http://www.everybodysmile.biz/cgi-bin/public.cgi?Id=159540
