Westwood Park Summer Wedding

Jenny and Matt chose Westwood Park in Essex to hold their wedding reception and they were probably more than a little surprised to find it taking place on the hottest day of the year! Wedding photography at Westwood Park offers lot’s of opportunities for romantic couple portraits in the beautiful gardens and new woodland areas and anyone planning their own wedding there will be spoilt for choice.

The day started though at Frinton, with Jenny getting ready at her parents home. Here, I was introduced to the family and was quite amazed at the boundless energy and talents of Jenny’s mum who appeared to be a true domestic goddess! She had found the time to make a beautiful hand stitched sampler to celebrate the occasion and I was treated to a whole host of home made delicious treats.

Some things did not go quite according to plan but Jenny arrived at the parish church looking beautiful and serene on the arm of her father.

At Westwood Park, the guests drank their champagne under the shade of the enormous cedar trees and a few more energetic types challenged each other to a game of croquet. Jenny and Matt took some time with me to go both into the house and to wander around the beautiful gardens for their romantic couple shots before re-joining their guests and heading down to the marquee by the lake.

The speeches included a very unusual and clever one by the best man which took the form of an original fairytale with Jenny and Matt as the hero and heroine and was illustrated with an enormous storyboard which he had made himself!

Garden Party Wedding in Suffolk

Mel and Martin held their Suffolk wedding at Mel’s family home and planned a wonderful summer garden party for their guests. The day itself brought a mad mix of weather with torrential rain quickly followed by bright bursts of sunshine – luckily for this lovely couple they were timed perfectly well!

Mel got ready at her parent’s house, in what must surely have been one of the prettiest bedrooms I have ever photographed in. She was helped by her sister and mother and once ready, she travelled the short distance to their local church in style!

When I arrived at the church, I found Martin and his best man welcoming the guests in from the rain and quickly relaxing as Matin’s father generously offered  everyone a welcome glass of bubbly.

The splendid horse and carriage was met at the church gates by the vicar and an array of brightly coloured umbrellas.

Martin and Mel left for home in the horse drawn carriage and were met at the garden gates by a young Suffolk chimney sweep and thus providing the lucky omen for young married couples to shake hands with a chimney sweep on their wedding day!

The sun came out again just at the perfect time for the celebrations in the lovely garden. Martin and Mel had requested just a few formal photographs taken in the fields beside the house and then the rest of the day was really all about the people, with the couple spending a wonderfully relaxed time, enjoying their family and friends at a summer garden party. There were a few speeches, prompting both laughter and tears and then the heavens opened once more as the guests made their way into the marquee for the wedding breakfast.

As I left the party in the early evening, the guests were spilling back out into the garden, the lanterns were being lit in the trees and the poor tired weather vane on the roof was still at last!

Hengrave Hall Summer Wedding

I couldn’t have asked for nicer clients than Milly and James who chose a summer wedding at Hengrave Hall. It was an absolute pleasure to spend time with them and their fabulously welcoming parents at one of my favourite wedding venues in Suffolk.

The day started early with a simple but lovely ceremony in the little Summerhouse at Hengrave Hall, with just Milly and James’s close family present. The first champagne of the day was popped as they exchanged their gorgeous wedding gifts to each other.

The bridal preparations for the church ceremony took place in the beautiful main bedroom at the Hall. There was plenty of time to capture all of Milly’s lovely choices for her wedding day and to meet her bridesmaids and pageboy. The beautiful bridal flowers were made by Milly’s mother.

The lovely little chapel at Hengrave Hall was filled with family and friends as Milly was escorted by her father up the little path to where James was waiting.

The blessing ceremony was simply beautiful, with the afternoon sunlight filtering in through a west window in the chapel and exquisite singing of Pie Jesu by a friend of Milly’s.

The guests relaxed in the afternoon sunshine on the West Terrace of the Hall, enjoying the  champagne and canapes and a variety of garden games.

James and Milly took a few moments away from their guests for me to capture some lovely couple portraits with the fabulous backdrop of the main facade of Hengrave Hall.

After dinner and some really entertaining speeches, the warm evening encouraged the guests back out into the garden until late in the evening. The lanterns were lit along the terrace and some more serious game playing got underway!

Congratulations to Milly and James…. for all the day’s pictures, please visit here:  http://www.everybodysmile.biz/cgi-bin/public.cgi?Id=161983

Super Fun couple married at Dove Barn in Suffolk

The Suffolk wedding photography for Hayley and Lee at the lovely Suffolk wedding venue Dove Barn was great fun. They were both very relaxed and they and their friends were looking forward to a great party to celebrate. I started with Hayley at her parent’s house nearby and then arrived at Dove Barn where the party had already started with the guests enjoying some very refreshing vodka and lime cocktails. Once Hayley and her father arrived in a gorgeous classic car, the ceremony was full of laughter and fun. Lee’s best men were real characters and performed their duties with an irrepressible charm.

There was a fair number of groups to do after the ceremony of both families and also their many friends, Whilst the right guests gather together for these, it’s a great time to pick up nice natural shots of special people who are a little camera shy. I never stage the more fun group photos and leave it totally up to the people themselves if they wish to add some shots that reflect their personalities …. and these did!

After all the groups, Hayley and Lee were anxious to start the celebrations but they did slip away for a few moments to give me time to take some romantic couple portraits in the beautiful gardens of the main house.

Dove Barn was looking stunning inside as usual, decorated with pretty pale pastel flowers and vintage china. The speeches were very funny and very revealing and then the evening entertainment was kicked off with Hayley and Lee taking to the dance floor for their First Dance as a married couple.

Hayley and Lee booked our very popular ‘Photo Fun Station’ to entertain their guests and they all had great fun delving into the wide assortment of fancy dress props to make their ‘booth’ strip pictures. Sarah and Matthew’s wedding at beautiful Stoke by Nayland in Suffolk

Although the weather tried it’s hardest, no amount of rain could dampen the spirits of Sarah and Matthew at their July wedding in the beautiful Suffolk village of Stoke by Nayland. The torrential rain had been forecast all week and Sarah and her parents were well prepared for the worst at the marquee reception in the gardens of the family home.

I began the day at the church and was surprised by the stunning interior of this local Suffolk village church, beautifully decorated with summer flowers in pastel blues and pinks. The guests arrived under a colourful assortment of umbrellas and the very charming Matthew and his ushers greeted them in the porch.

Sarah arrived  in good time for the ceremony but I love this image of her lovely father once more checking the time as they entered.

As Sarah and Matthew left in their classic car for the short ride to the house, many of the guests walked through the very pretty village, dodging the puddles on the way.

Once back at the house, the guests enjoyed their champagne and canapés in the warmth of the enormous marquee, prettily decorated with masses of bunting strung across the span of the roof and more beautiful English country flowers in pastel colours.

With no let up in sight of the persistent rain, Sarah and Matthew bravely ducked outside the marquee for just a few moments so I could capture some pictures of just the two of them. Even on a day like this, it was clear what a beautiful garden it was and a flowering arbour provided both a lovely background and a little shelter!

As the sky darkened outside the marquee, inside….. great speeches all round started the evening celebrations. After the meal, Sarah and Matthew took time to stroll around all the tables, catching up with old friends before stepping out onto the enormous dance floor for what was one of the best First Dances I have seen!

Some very energetic Scottish dancing followed which was greeted with great enthusiasm by all the guests and particularly by the Scottish contingent.

The marquee looked stunning as I left, lit up against the dark sky ….. and at last, the rain had stopped. If you were a guest at this lovely wedding, please register here to see all the pictures of the day:  http://www.everybodysmile.biz/cgi-bin/public.cgi?Id=159540
